Principles of Accreditation
SACS Reaffirmation Calendar Quality Enhancement Plan Compliance Certification Reaffirmation Process SACS Reference Section

The title of the new Principles clearly emphasizes the focus on quality enhancement. The first dimension described in the section on Principles of Accreditation is INTEGRITY, followed by commitment to quality enhancement.

Section 1 of the Principles details the philosophy and principles of accreditation. The Core Requirements, Comprehensive Standards, and Federal Requirements are provided in Sections 2 through 4, respectively. The requirements for reaffirmation of accreditation as presented in the Principles are:

  • Compliance with the Principles of Accreditation defined as integrity and commitment to quality enhancement
  • Compliance with the Core Requirements and Comprehensive Standards:
    • Core Requirements (12). Core Requirement 12 is the Quality Enhancement Plan
    • Comprehensive Standards including institutional mission, governance, and effectiveness (16); programs (30), and resources (7)
    • Federal Mandates (8)
  • Compliance with the policies and procedures of the Commission on Colleges
  • Focus on student learning
